Reciprocal Consideration

Redwood trees are known to be the tallest and largest in the world, with the potential to live for thousands of years. Despite their grandiosity, they have a surprisingly shallow root system. How, then, do they so stoically thrive?

The theme of connectedness has had positive prevalence in recent days. With the compartmentalized lifestyle of modern culture, it’s easy to forget that we are an intricate part of this natural world; and by that designation, are not exempt from nature’s rhythm. Things aren't just happening around us; we're happening, too.

Given the scope of my job, it feels necessary for me to bring present awareness to the importance of maintaining relationship with one’s body while balancing the attention to community. When fear is heightened, it's natural to become myopic and protective, inevitably creating tension, isolation and stress; all impacting healthy immunity long term. This is an invitation to deepen your commitment to self care while also considering others. It’s not necessary to abandon your body now; please continue to keep space for our sessions if you're well. My small office nook has the benefit of no group waiting area, assured cleanliness and peace of mind knowing that my personal exposure is limited. My partner is home from work for three weeks, my classes at MSVU have been suspended and my daughter will be away from school beyond March break. Recognizing today's updated information, it’s important that this transparency is reciprocal. If you are feeling ill, cancelation fees will be waived. This also applies if you have traveled within 14 days or have had concerning contact. Lastly, please let me know if you have become sick since a recent visit. As this unfolds, I am committed to my practice and remain open for you through this incredibly tense time unless our mutual best interests change. Right now, I encourage you to connect with me with any concerns. Ultimately, this too shall pass, we will be collectively wiser and my hope is that we’ll globally feel closer.

Redwoods tower strongly in groves because of a vast interconnectedness within their root system; sharing resources, intertwining and sometimes fusing together for collective nourishment. In this same spirit, even with social distancing, please take care of one another, have patience, support your local businesses responsibly and embrace the benefits of this being a quieter time. I wish you ease and mindful balance through this event. And a reminder that I’m here, in health, to help.
